Why was Nene Leakes dropped from The Great Xscape Tour?
The 49-year-old mother of two grabbed headlines in a big way when it was revealed that she was joining Xscape’s big tour after a long hiatus.
Many saw The Great Xscape Tour as something that could take Leakes’ career to the next level by confirming her talents as a comedian.
However, a few days after the news was made official, Leakes was caught on video telling a female heckler at her comedy show that she hoped that her Uber driver would rape her.
After a major controversy erupted, Leakes rushed to apologize, but the damage was already done.
In a shameless attempt to distance themselves from the drama, Xscape released a statement announcing that Leakes was no longer part of the lineup.
It read: “Like many, we were dismayed by the recent remarks made by our talented colleague and friend Nene Leakes. As a result, we have decided to no longer proceed with her participation on our tour.”
Leakes tried to stay cool in the public eye, but privately she is feeling completely different.
Nene Leakes blames Kandi Burruss and Tameka “Tiny” Harris for tour fiasco
Leakes has a long history with her RHOA co-star, Kandi Burruss, and the other major player in Xscape, rapper T.I.‘s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris.
She erroneously thought that those two women would have her back in this messy situation, but she was wrong.
Leakes believed that her friends would have some mercy since she is already embroiled in a fight with Kim Zolciak and her husband, Gregg, is facing some health issues.
A source spoke to Hollywood Life and said: “NeNe thinks Kandi and Tiny totally overreacted by firing her, and that they are just trying to get some publicity at her expense. But that is the thing with NeNe, she constantly feels that she is the victim, and she never really takes full responsibility for her actions.”
A depressed Leakes feels like she is getting attacked left and right at the moment. It is unlikely that Burruss and Harris will respond to these attacks.
